I know it sounds paradoxical: you write a novel and then you don’t want to summarise it.

Books these days are often sold like shelf products: “if you liked X, you’ll love Y.” Synopses as playlists, pre-packaged emotions, spoilers dressed up as promotion. If I give away the question at the centre of Rumore:77, I turn it into a tagline. And I hate taglines.

My argument is against the idea that a book has to be explainable in twenty seconds to be worth anything. Some stories, if you reduce them, you break them.
